The days were long
The cotton was high
—laughter was all they had
The sun beating down
Their hands rubbed raw
—spirit’s conjoined unclad
(Villanova Pennsylvania: February, 2018)
Unseeded
Fear, like prejudice,
should not be handed down
To fallow the orchard
—or barren the ground

Read the title, was looking forward to read about skinny dipping. Should have known you would write about something much more beautiful and intellectual! 🙂
Thanks. Joy often comes out of the most difficult situations!
Great weekend Fred.

Actually, I think it is only through joy and humor that we can endure difficult situations. In German we have an expression 'Galgenhumor' which straight translated means gallows humor, but actually means more 'a grim sense of humor' which is used to ease a difficult situation. I do love your poems!
Did not see the second one on my phone. It is beautiful and so much wisdom! Unfortunately, I think, both fear and prejudice are handed down to the kids, sometimes maybe even unknowingly, by parents behavior and talk.
Absolutely, that's what prompted the write....
Thanks Fred
