Crooked Tree

StrayBray Jaramillo

The tree stands alone
Grew from hard soil
Had a death wish to grow
Like a twisted flower
Reached toward invisible black sun

No birds ever perched on its Branches
No lovers ever kissed under Its limbs
No child climbed its trunk
No leaves
No blossoms
Hard wood
Not worth cutting

The tree is still there
