Before and After

DHA

I slide through the crowds
Unnoticed
Unbothered
Taking note of their faces
Their walks
Their laughs
And I think to myself
About how much I wish for them
To be gone.
How nice it’d be
To live in a world
Completely to myself
No one to answer to
No one to crowd me
No one else.
But I could never truly live there
Because it’d be a world without her
And she turns my nights into day
She’s my light
And how could I give that away?
Every day
She reminds me that everything
Has light
And everything has value.
She’s changed me
Now I look forward to the smiles
And the laughs
And the conversations
Of the people
I walk by
And she’ll never know
That it was all because of her
