Mindful Wanderings

poetboy5454

Feeling like a broken tape recorder spewing flightless sound into an abyss of silence

Words connecting and falling apart as meaning is lost, searching for that essence

Running out of ways to express this searing red flower blooming within this soul

And ways to stress the coming nightmares and the need for a dream that needs to be stolen

Same old battle cry ringing through this vast desert of my mind knowing nothing but the sand

Same old mirage of desperation and fear and doubt and- too many to count upon a hand

Still, the same old rain only serves to push me further, searching deeper beyond

Realizing I am a stranger trapped within the limits of this imagination, a belonging vagabond

Fancy phrases and abundant vocabulary fade away as I will know make this message clear

In a world where there are the haves and have nots, with ignorance being bred by fear

Where politics are seen through a shattered lens, distorted from our sight

Where apathy seems to rule above all in our hearts, willing to give up without a fight

All while the atmosphere is being razed by those who choose to heap the blame elsewhere

By those who count dollars, never lives, all while the rest choose to sit and stare

Have we forgotten of the creed of which we had always believed that would decide our deeds?

Surrounded and deafened by this world of discordant cacophony, from which we’ll piece together a harmony

Inspired by the wails of the past and screeches of today, performing a song of the free

    The song is our spirit
    Wondering from you to me
    Teaching me in my silence
From the words of your scene
Hearing an echo that feels free
    Being inspired and inspiring

Thank you for always doing what you do and helping these words just roll off my tongue.
