Here and There

Maggie Maloney

We have found ourselves alone

Through death

Through words

Angry and bitter

Clinging to the cigarette and booze filled old house on 44th Street

begging for someone to tell us -

why we survived

She died

He died

I lived

You lived

Yet we are no more honest with each other

than we are to those that lie in the grave

And it doesn't help that our view of things can change from day to day so what's honest and what's not!
