The Shadow of My Heart

Accidental Poet

Here I am between

Yesterday and tomorrow

Sifting through the memories

Sorting out the joys and sorrows

Like a photo album of my life

A prized possession on every page

Yesterday’s shadow lingers on

On to my awaited old age

And of my tomorrows

I’ll greet them with optimism

Although I expect to be persuaded

I’ll resist the urge of pessimism

For tomorrow is yet unknown

Future memories I’m sure to keep

Added to my life’s photo album

Of which I’ll so often speak

Yesterday’s shadows and tomorrow’s memories

An internal work of mosaic art

The result of many years

The shadow of my heart

Thanks Fred. Its poets like you and others here on MPS that read my work that make writing poetry such a joy. I've been on a few other sites, and I've never felt like my writing made as big of an impact as it has here. Thank you Fred and also others who come here to read what I write. I am only one of many poets here on MPS who love and appreciate the craft of written words.
