Heaven Waits (Blues Poem #15) +5

Kurt Philip Behm

Counting spaces between the notes,

the music came alive

The melody deepened, the band on fire,

all bees have left the hive

Breathing in one fast refrain,

my lungs too full to stop

An Angel melts his pearl baton,

the Sirens blazing hot

New sounds created, harp destroyed,

the clouds all push apart

As heaven waits for one last riff,

—to claim my beating heart

Bartered Youth

Hosting my own cocktail party,

I feel as when a child

Looking up, again I’m lost,

among adults wearing smiles

I pour the drinks and carry trays,

and laugh at the right times

But still feel small and unattached

—my bartered youth in mime

The Charm

With no respect for labels,

dead branches on a tree

Refusing thrice to do the dance,

a worthless reverie

Rejecting their consensus,

all singing to the choir

Each word anew I write in blood

—whose truth I do aspire

(Villanova Pennsylvania: February, 2018)

The Moment On Fire

Anticipation,

the moment is near

Wishes have settled

—all vision is clear

Anticipation,

your truth ever glows

To light with desire

—this present unknown

(Villanova Pennsylvania: February, 2018)

The Gift

It’s not the money,

and it’s not the fame

The great gift of life

—is life

(Villanova Pennsylvania: February, 2018)

Freedom Calls

Last thing to hold on to

Last thing to belong to

Frayed lifeline to the temple

—clogged artery that slows

Last thing to hold on to

Last thing to belong to

As wings expand, freedom calls

—finally letting go

(Villanova Pennsylvania: February, 2018)

Kurt, I do hope that last riff will not be played for a long long time! They are all beautifully written, your imagination is amazing. And I do like that last one 'Freedom Calls' a lot.

Thanks Fred ....the magic of writing in metaphors!

I'm planning on staying awhile. I have 5 more books
to finish to complete the 'Ichiban' series I started 12
years ago. (6 doneā€”5 to go)
