Destined

Baylee

To soar with the birds

is my only wish

The frigid air sweeping my feathers outward,

I’d fly with my flock

But not for long, my dear

for I am destined to break away

grow beyond the limits of societal chains

Whether I fly faster,

or slower,

Veer off the path,

or make my own

The revolution

must occur.

    Beautiful and lonely..........

And fly on your own you must, Nicole! This is a great poem, so well written. You put it into the category 'fantasy', but I don't see it as fantasy. I see it as a fundamental truth that youth needs to break free, to forge their own way, to experience life on their own terms, and you expressed that beautifully. There is a revolutionary in each one of us. Well done!
