SCOTT HARTLEY

Something that wasn’t there
Poem by Scott Hartley

Sophia pounced on something that wasn’t there!

She did it with such determined flair

It couldn’t have vanished into thin air

She thought: not as far as I am aware

Her tail whipped back and forth something furious

And, even though cats are supposed to be curious,

I still can’t figure out why she would care

To try to catch something that just wasn’t there
