10 Minutes After

mountainman999

Your brain lives 10 minutes after death.
Wish they would’ve known that.
The old heart which pounded in my chest,
Beats no more.

The sound is silence that rings in my ears,
My legs won’t move,
Lungs don’t breath,
Just please don’t close my eyes,
Although I have begun not to see.

I urge my arms to lurch up,
Grab anyone in the room, to say goodbye.
I wish I could feel your tears on my face.
I wish I could just let go with grace.
Just please don’t close my eyes.

My proactive mind races,
With memories of you, memories of life.
If only my mouth could move to tell you
How gorgeous you looked, even in strife.
Please don’t close my eyes.

Everything hurts.
My vision slowly blurs.
This is it. Time to go.
I can’t stop slipping away.
Please don’t be sad.

Everything will be okay.

My vision finally fades until all there is is black.
But all I see as i drift away,
Is your smiling face,
Which I will see again someday.

But still it hurts, it hurts so bad.
As my already gone heart.
Breaks once more.
