HeartfullyFallen

I've never really been told I'm fat
Just that I eat too much
And I'm sloppy

I've never really been told I'm worthless
Just that I don't do much
And that I don't help out
That I'm too dependant on others

I was never really told I'm a whore
Just that I've dated a lot of guys
That I get around
That I'm easy

I've never really been called stupid
Just not smart enough
Just... slow

My mirrior has never broke when I look at it
Just had screamed at me
To either dance or cover up and get out cause I'm worthless if not for the first option
It has never asked for itself to be covered - as if to look away
It just wants me to give or leave
So I threw a towel over it and cried everytime I saw my reflection for a week

I've never really been told I'm ugly
Just not pretty
Just that I need to cover more
That modest dresses are great on me
Cause they give shape unlike most of my wardrobe
But they still cover enough for you to be able to look at me without vomiting
And that I can't wear dresses too much either cause then I'm a slut

But not exactly a slut
Just someone who shows too much
And that no one wants -or needs to for that matter- see that
Yknow - to see me

That I should hide
But not really
Like occasionally peak out, as if I should always be a little surprise
Ready to please anyone but myself
Because I don't matter

But I wasn't told that
Just that they matter more
That everything matters more
That - in comparison - I don't

I've never really been told I'm unlovable
It's just been proved time after time that I am
It will mostly likely never be admitted
But also never denied

I've never really been told I can do it
Only taught that I can't
That there's hardly a point in trying
And I don't know why I still do

Who are these horrible people telling you those things - in the end you have to learn to love yourself.

Oh but you must keep trying. Many of us have been brought up to undervalue ourselves. Yes 'us' i left home at 15 to get away from criticism, bullying and beatings. I fought because inside me i was angry to be treated so unjustly. I hear your cry of injustice here and i say FIGHT!
