Patience

Sierra

Patience
I’ll never forget the first time I watched the sunrise.
The earth was still
as if it had momentarily stopped
to let the sun have her moment,
and boy did she take her time.
She teases you with a gorgeous view
that spreads across the sky.
The view is breathtaking
and you want to see more.
You become impatient
and begin to itch.
You want to bathe in her light
and soak up her warmth.
The sun took her time exposing her beauty
so you would appreciate all of her.
When she first peaks up,
the sun doesn’t look like herself.
You are thrown off balance
trying to figure out how something can become
even more gorgeous than it already was.
And as fast as it starts,
it’s over
and the sun is making her way up
unstoppable until nightfall
for then she can get her beauty rest
and capture people’s eyes again
tomorrow morning.

Beautifully written. I love sunrises, and I think this poem does them justice.
