Sleep

Cynthia

Close your eyes my child

Yes, go to sleep

Give to your eyes,

The rest that they desire

Let dreams consume you

Rest your dreary head

I shall protect you

I will wrap my arms 'round your fragile body

The warmth of your small form heating me

I will love you

I will care

When you skin your knee,

I'll be there

When you need a shoulder to cry on

Mine will be waiting

When you need a hug

My arms will be spread out wide

So rest your tiny head

Close your beautiful eyes

When you wake up

I'll still be here.
