Ossuary

Baylee

Let’s make this ending a sunset:

beautiful, gradual, and ultimately leading to

a black, starless night

Even if

sunsets are simply

pulchritudinous endings;

Leave me this ossuary

flee in reckless abandon

charge forward, towards your future

and away from me

It’s a far cry

to believe in love at first sight

because we all know

there won’t ever be a next time

Even the hiatus in this epoch

could not lull me into a state of

Hakuna matata

For, like the sky,

it is an escape I cannot reach

No matter how far I stretch

my tendons rip and tear

with the strain of my elusive dreams

My limits are nonexistent,

you say

But, my darling,

your perspective is awry

This is the reality in which I live

The reality where

purpose is fictional

only prose is comprehensible

and love

exists only in the chimeras

of lethargy.
