The center of attention
That’s your comfort zone
Everyone lookin’ at you
The charisma you think you own
Yeah, it’s all about you
Showing off some skin
Walking round almost nude
And the crowd you’re in
You crave eyes that stare
All eyes on you
As all ears turn
They’re on you too
Got to be in the spotlight
The main attraction
And if you’re not
You’ll provide the distraction
As the cameras all flash
Your seductive switch is on
Be the celebrity you crave
Just who is being conned?
There you go again
Shooting off your mouth
Yeah, you know it all
Till your ego cries ouch
Ever wonder of
The image you depict
That most everyone thinks
You’re just an attention addict

Self respect is certainly not the self absorbed attitude that some show to the world - a needed and well-written reminder A.P.
Thanks for the read and comment Fay.
AP,
Another fine write!
Well done, my friend!
Thank you for sharing!
~Laura~
Thanks Laura. It just seems to me that too many people are too self-centered for their own good.
You’re welcome, my dear friend!
And yes, too many! I agree!
A fine write AP.
Thanks orchi.
So so true - they are out there (even here ? ) and appear oblivious of the image they project. The best treatment is to simply ignore them - that hurts them most. Great poem
Thanks Michael. I suppose they are everywhere.
Thanks for posting AP ~ Poems in ITALICS always make me THINK ~ this is no exception ! Love the Structure ~ seven balanced quatrains and a consistent (xaxa xbxb etc) Rhyme Pattern ~ a real POEM ! Your subject is intriguing and we all ask "is it ME ?" Ones personality is inevitably mirrored in our Poems and I am an EXTROVERT so (in the main) I write EXTROVERT POETRY and like us all I love to get CONSTRUCTIVE and COHERENT comments ~ BUT I.m not seeking attention ~ just being ME ~ which is why I capitalise my TITLES ~ to stand out ! I always encourage ~ especially New Members ~ and (most of !) my poems are structured and coherent ! Your poem has made me think about myself and all our Members ! Thanks for caring & sharing ~ Yours BRIAN (UK)
Thanks for reading and the compliment Brian. I apologize if you got the impression my poem was directed towards you or your writing. My poem is about the glamour group of people who have to have the attention of everyone around them such as the Kardashians, but not limited to just them. Many people need to be the center of attention.
Great write AP! Personally I love the Kardashians but I can see your point of view 🙂
Thanks sky, my poem isn't just about the Kardashians, but many like them that need that fix of everyone watching them.
A very good and very true write, there are so many people out there that just want to be noticed who are irrelevant.
Thanks Andy. They're all trying to outshine each other. But they bore the rest of us.
And "selfies"! What is that constant need to post "selfies"?????
Selfies! Darn it. I should have included that in the poem. They're all just obsessed with themselves Lorna. Who knows why? Thanks for the read.
By the way! I hope you are all right after the storm? Mass was badly hit no?
Yes Lorna, we did get quite the hard hit with flooding and high winds knocking down trees, branches and power to many people. Thank you for your concern. I was of the lucky ones only losing power twice for a few minutes each time.
So who are the Kardashians? Perhaps I live in a time warp.
No one important as far as I'm concerned, but they are a family of well to do celebrities. Which really amazes me that they can be as popular as they are, they don't really do anything. They have a TV show devoted to just watching their daily lives. Boring to me, but lots of people seem to enjoy watching them. I'm just not drawn to those types of people. Thanks for reading Michael.
