Girl, Woman, Mother

Jonathan Dylan

Screaming into this world, the way it all begins,

Innocent child, free from Earthly sins,

The calming voice of your mother is the first sound you hear,

You instantly feel safe once you know that she's near

As you grew you may have had a sister to teach you all you know,

To guide you on your journey as you continue to grow,

You may argue and scream and fight,

But your sister will always treat you right

Going to school you made buddies and pals,

Some of those I can only assume were gals,

You chased then, and played, having so much fun,

Carefree days running around in the sun

As you grew older your feelings felt a change,

Your friend felt like more, and it made you feel strange,

Love had found you and sent you into a twirl,

Your mind had found a woman hiding inside a girl

You marry your sweetheart and move into a home,

Content with eachother with no desire to roam,

Children then followed, perhaps a little girl,

A brand new young lady to give this world a whirl

As you both grew older, husband and wife,

You sit back and relax, reflecting on your life,

One day your lady will close her eyes and sleep,

but you know that she, in your heart, you will keep

Happy International Women's Day to every woman, I am awed by your beauty and strength!
