When will we learn
That enough is enough
How many kids have to die
Because damn, this is rough
As I stood in the cold
Listening to every name
I finally felt it
All the sadness and shame
Kids have been killed
Some only six or seven
What can we do for them
As they look down on us from heaven
We can take a stand
To never see another student bleed
Because nobody else will do it
We are all we’ve got, but we are all we need

- Comment from author about the poem: Only one month from the school shooting in Florida, I am proud to say I participated in a nation wide walkout honoring the victims and their families. This poem is very meaningful to me, as it is about a very serious topic. I hope you enjoy.

Thank you for this poem and I would just like to say, it has been hard on me and everyone who lost someone from the school shooting in Florida. I can barely talk about this subject without crying. My first and longest best friend Zuke Hoyer sadly was a victim in the shooting. He always found a way to contact me when I moved away. He was such a great, smart, handsome guy and I miss him so much. I can't even begin to believe the pain his family and other families are going through now. So thank you for this poem.
Thank you so much for reading. I am very sorry for your loss. While I have not personally lost anyone in a school shooting, I empathize with those that have. I cannot fathom what you may be going through right now. I use poetry as a way to get my feelings out, especially when normal words fail. For a serious topic like this, I figured a poem was the best way to talk about it. I speak for myself and everyone else who is a part of this movement when I say that we stand with you and anyone else effected by the shooting. #NeverAgain
Thank you so much.
so very powerful and such a strong message with it. thank you for having a voice and being apart of change you want to see.
I'm glad this helps get my message across, thank you for reading as always 🙂
