Present

Honey Silk

In this moment, I can hear everything going on around me.

I can see the outlines of objects around the room.

I can feel the cool air slipping it's way in from the slight crack under my window.

All these things are present but I don't feel like my time is matching up with right now.

I still find myself drifting back to memories I'd rather forget.

And each time I look to the future, I can't bring myself to the present.

Yet when I reach the tail of the present, one blink and it's now my past.

Now all I have are fading memories and an optimistic outlook for the future.

But what I wouldn't give to live in the now, I'm afraid to even think of the things I'd do.

I couldn't tell you how many times I tried to remedy this feeling but it crawls underneath my skin.

It fills my mind with what starts off as passing thoughts to prominent and important. It settles deep within me.

Some problems have their own solution and for as long as I can remember, it takes patience.

I no longer want to sit by but patience is the very virtue that rings true.

So I will wait till my opportunity comes and when it does, I will embrace it like no other.

I will live in the moment and remember it for all it had to offer.

It will still be fresh in my mind be it 50 years, no matter what.

Because once I find that nearly elusive fragment in time, I will live in that moment forever.
