Drip

Echo Seeker

Drip. Drip. Drip.

The sound of your life trickling away.

Drip. One year.

Drip. Two years.

You want it to stop,

But it doesn't.

You want it to slow down.

But it doesn't.

Drip.

When you were young,

It went slow, painfully so.

Drip.

Now you just try to hold on,

To everything you love,

Drip.

As it's ripped away,

By time's quickened pace.

Drip.

You're old now.

You never did find anything,

To dedicate your life to.

Drip.

It's empty, worthless, pitiful,

Drip.

And then it's gone.

Thank you for the friendship. I read your profile, you had me at chocolate. LOL. BTW, really nice write here. It does seem that way. First you're just a kid, then you blink and your 60.

This is so true! Especially when we wait for destiny to just fall in our laps when we may not be going after it. I can have a hammer in one hand and a nail In the other but I will never allow the nail to serve itโ€™s purpose if I never hit it with the hammer!!!

so well expressed and so true. time is such a scary thing, and i find it goes too quickly too , and i struggle to understand where all the time has gone .. and how has it all passed me so damn fast.. its really quite scary and makes one sad.

i love how you kept repeating the word DRIP it made for a good effect in this poem

we can never get away from the racing of time, so scary

a sad shame when people live their lives in such an empty manner, i can relate, too often has my life felt empty , too often have i felt empty and hurt inside and its not fair when one spends so much of their life feeling empty / hurting . they say life is for living .. if so , why do so many of us have to lead lives we hate? or be in pain for years? it makes no sense and its certainly unfair
