On A One Horse Of Hope.

kevin browne

One day I'm lonely
Next day I'm broke
Lost all my money
On a one horse of hope.

My lady left last week
Tidied up her loose ends
I ended back on lonely street
Now I'm back on the mend.

I write I quite love her so
She wrote a heartache letter
Even if I've nowhere to go
I'll somehow make it better.

Plucked out some ideas
From whiskey and coke
I was living my fears
When she lost hope.

Back to the runner
Bet on 1st place
She looked a stunner
My horse won its race.

They say neon lights are bright
When love is getting you down
If it keeps me up all night
I'll just roll back into town.

There's always a way son
If she never comes back
There'll be a show of a gun
If God gives me the sack.

And there ain't enough ink
There's so much left to know
About it going down the sink
My page is white as snow.

Top hat and tails
Cheltenham races
If everything fails
Try other places.
