Mallard Hen Beautiful

Mallard Hen Beautiful

A mallard hen is beautiful

In a special way

As she waddles around

And lives out her days

Her colors are very dim

And very understated

Though perfect for survival

And very underrated

She is brown and tan

With a little patch of blue

With a quiet personality

Though at times she's lively too

Sitting there and dedicated

She puts downy on her nest

And protects her little family

At her very best

She’s also beautiful

While swimming on the pond

With her little ducklings

Swimming there along

They pipe out somewhat shyly

With their little peeps

Over the rippling water

And next to the reeds

One day the little hen

Will up and fly away

Leaving an empty nest

Behind on that day

She’ll fly in the blue

To another ground

Where a waiting drake

Will impress her with his crown

They will choose one another

While they’re courting there

And form a certain bond

That the two will share

And just like two jets

They will fly really fast

And be as a pair

As long as they can last

          My pleasure, my dear friend!
          Your posting reminded me
          of one of my childrenā€™s
          favorite fairy tales by
          Hans Christian Andersen,
          ā€œThe Ugly Ducklingā€!
