Spring Redbud

Spring Redbud

Before the elms and pecans

Is a redbud on the lawn

Its bright color standing out

And beautiful there without a doubt

It is a very special tree

At the edge with heart-shaped leaves

And a first sign of life

from the long winter's night

It is seen from afar

As if it were a nighttime star

And stands out in the light

As the sunshine makes it bright

Every spring we admire them so

And celebrate the way they grow

And know that in the days of March

Their flowers decorate many parks

And when the elm and pecan trees bud

The redbuds grow their leaves of love

There in the springtime sun

To be admired by everyone
