Say to the daughter of Zion,
"Behold, your king is coming to you,
humble, mounted on a donkey,
on a colt,
the foal of a beast of burden.

- Comment from author about the poem: This was actually taken from the Bible. Before Christ road into Jerusalem, he told his disciples to go into the village and they will find a donkey and a colt, and bring them to him. If anyone says anything, they should tell them, 'The Lord needs them', and he will give it to them. My piece was a prophecy written in the Bible being fulfilled as what we now call, 'Palm Sunday'. Matthew 21

A fine write Forever. Pictures which portray this accurately show TWO donkeys (or asses, or mules). Jesus rides the large one - the mother or father of the little one, which is the colt, which walks along beside them.
Matthew 21 in the ESV says a donkey and a colt. As much as I like the KJV version, I prefer the ESV.
Thanks Forever. Well, it's a bit tricky to work out if Jesus rode the donkey or the colt. Would the colt be too small for an adult? A mule might be difficult. It might have played up and be difficult to ride on.
Maybe so, but after all, he is Jesus. (Lol)
