Limits Are Deceptions

poetboy5454

Limits are deceptions made to be broken by our hands

Let the smoke of ambition fade or burn into blaze

Break away from the whims of fate but which side will you land?

Seize tomorrow or be blown away by the passing days

The shadow of failure follows me bound by my own rope

Weighing me down as I climb up like a sack of boulders

Still I will continue onwards above even these slopes

No matter what back-breaking stones are put upon these shoulders

There is one who propels past me at every turn

Even with my full blown will I manage to fall short

Left behind his shadow, cornered by my own, so much to learn…

Yet I won’t allow my hope to distort

Always second to this indomitable force

Drawing unlimited strength from an unknown source

Losing myself in their consecutive victories

Abandoned behind a locked door not needing keys

All my life I’ve relented to these endless doubts and fears

No longer shall I wait for my day to arrive

No longer to this nightmare shall I adhere

No longer shall I let this flame sputter out into ashes

No longer can I refuse my true potential

I’ve soared before only until it crashes

To myself I’ll keep repeating

Limits are a deception

An excuse is a lie in disguise

Failure is the greatest teacher

From this night I must rise

Until it becomes true
