I don't like

JB

I don’t like blueberries

They make my face swell

I guess I’ll get rid of blueberries

I don’t like cats

They make me breathe funny

I guess I’ll get rid of them too

I don’t like needles

They hurt my arm

I guess needles have to go

I don’t like boys

They make my tummy queasy

I guess boys are next

But guess what

Sarah likes blueberries, even though I don’t!

Sarah likes cats, even though the make me breathe funny!

Sarah likes needles, says they make you healthy!

Sarah likes boys, she thinks their cute!

How can Sarah like them?

I don’t like them.

I guess I don’t like Sarah then.

I guess Sarah has to leave too.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Very cryptic this one, huh? It isn't deep or cheesy, but let me explain anyway. This is from the perspective of a little girl (6 or 7), and she's learning about other views and how to deal with them. Given the political state of the U.S. right now, I think this is a message that we need to remember.
