Against Hearts Of Gold.

kevin browne

I guess I'm on that road again
Where Jesus walked and took the blame
It started off a bit like this
When it ended up in Heaven's bliss.

Our shoulders are where they once rubbed
Against hearts of gold have you joined the club
No need to search when it gets too much
It goes like this if it's never touched

See songs turn to love in charming ways
I'll sing them all at the turn of May
We'll hold our hands in my name
Love leaks out when it plays with shame.

Teardrops glisten from inside my heart
Except the times' when life fell apart
And there blows a wind so cold I froze
That doesn't mean any doors are closed.

Excepting grace and growing with good
Things we don't and the things we should
With people we love and the ones we miss
let's turn this life into one big kiss.

There was a life who knew no God
Our heads fell off when we gave the nod
There was this love which called us home
There's nothing worse than being alone.

Intriguing ways along the paths we follow
It seems too good until tomorrow
For the flower will grow wise and sprout
There could be life, but there is some doubt.

I flick through the pages of what to do
I'll leave some thoughts for you to chew
Regrets are damned the excitement fades
I'll fight a death with the sword I made.

But I heard there is another book
Which took me twice to take a look
They'll be Hallelujah one more time
when this life of yours could be mine.

I think it's now for us to learn
To light the fire but not to burn
Our spirits are showing up in the flames
It's not our fault and we're not to blame.
