I Elevate Thee

Tirzah Juarez

Cursive letters spill

From my torn aorta

My open chest cavity

Leaks of rot

I'll chase this moment

Back with wine

And stand up

While my insides drop

Tonight I can write the saddest lines

Like you couldn't stay

But where did you go?

I need an outlet for tonight

Moist eyes speak bounty of this woe

What came tomorrow

That we couldn't foresee?

Light before darkness

I elevate thee,

And release you

Of your misery.
