Thoughts of A Broken Man.

kevin browne

Thoughts of being a broken man
Are what he does and what he can
Efforts made and the world he breaks
If ever he's early or if ever he's late.

He goes to work at 8 o'clock on the dot
Has a holiday when he's lost the plot
His conscience is lost, thoughtless too
When he's drunk he won't have a clue.

He thinks deep, he keeps thoughts in a jar
If he shouts out he'll stand from afar
When the glass breaks, he'll shatter his heart
He knew he was broken right from the start.

He never knew life, he then lost his wife
He'll stay weak but he'll put up a fight
Demanding he wished once upon a star
That he would try suicide in his own car.

He'll change his mind if it's necessarily so
He'll leave lies behind and will be quick to go
Sometimes he'll think that he's Gods gift
He'll try to kiss you when you try to miss.

He'll fall in love whenever he wants
He's tracking you down, he likes to hunt
There is a person somewhere inside
Never finds himself when he trying to hide.

He'll take the power deep within you
Will make you love all the things you do
In the end, he's still standing through it all
Where others tumble, where others fall.

Gave his life when your hearts he stole
He helped it happen, that was his goal
Then he'll misunderstand you quite right
He kills you and you won't understand why.

He'll be a shadow of the man he used to be
He'll turn blind to choose what he can see
And when he shows up he'll be the king
He'll ask you to marry, he'll buy you a ring.

He can make you sad, he can kiss you a tear
Stands by you every moment of every year
He'll teach your love how to take a chance
Love has no ending, he's found romance

Be back on the streets where you first met
He'll starve again when he lost his last bet
He looks a million dollars sat on a dime
When I gave him my life I gave what's mine.

He'll end the ending right there and then
He'll do anything, he'll climb big ben
He'll go to the grave, his spirit will rise
He'll follow you up, up to the skies.

He'll be remembered for who he was
He's angry with the trouble he's caused
Six foot under he silently sleeps
When leaving behind his loved ones to weep

He said he cared, he thought about lonely
Now he's in Heaven he can tell the story
That he did his best but it turned out worse
Burdens on his life, his life was cursed.

He speaks from above telling me this
His life has left him, it's for the best
It's over now his time has gone
He'll be sad for what went wrong.

Think of you if you were standing in his shoes
He would think it impossible for you to choose
He'll be thinking there's no making sense of it
He lost his life when his flame was lit.

Can I ask what your beautiful poem is about?

    • kevin browne

yes, my friend, it's trying to emulate a man who has lost his way in life and turns to measures of his own existence with the expressions and thoughts of his broken life. read through it again to perceive the undercurrent pattern of the poem. thanks for calling in.
