Lying Through My Teeth

cutelilcardinal

I lie through my teeth

When people question me

You look sad, are you okay?

I’m fine, I’m just pretty tired today.

And by tired I don’t just mean physically

I’m tired of being less than everyone around me

I lie through my teeth

When people question me

Your grades are slipping, do you need help?

I’ll get some as soon as I regulate my health

And by health I don’t mean my appearance

I’m mentally screaming and no one can hear it

I lie through my teeth

When people question me

Your outfits are dark, are you depressed?

No, I just didn’t feel like wearing a dress

And by dress I don’t mean the pretty things

I’m dressing like this because of the comfort it brings

I lie through my teeth and hope that no one sees

The reality behind my lies when they question me
