Iʼm from grass blowing and water splashing,
Holding my breath for as long as I could
Coming up to feel the oxygen rush back into my lungs.
Iʼm from scraped skin and healing wounds,
Band-aids and tissues.
I come from the Earth,
Rolling down a hill, breathing in the mountain air,
The sun on my back.
I am the product of broken love and two places at one time,
Never coming together, always separated.
Tears falling and hardening into jewels.
The life I looked to running farther and farther.
And then it happened- a spark of happiness,
A new joy, a new chance.
I’m from waking up to smell homemade breakfast,
Running down the stairs to greet who awaited me.
Smiles and laughter, love and heartbreak.
The one thing that always brings people together-
Gathering around the table, holding hands.
I am from late nights and Harry Potter,
The sound of my mother’s voice carrying me to sleep.
I am made of endless pages, waiting to be read.
Paint splattering the edges, continuing to make a mess.
I’m from the back and forth,
To back once more,
Coming together in the end,
But never again.
FInger painting my feelings,
Never a single color.
Blue, Green, Red, and even Yellow
A mix of colors, a swirl of happiness.
I am from love, joy and laughter.
I am me, in every way I can.
Ignoring those ignorant towards me,
My head always held up high.
I am me.
