Passed On

Passed On

I knew he was not there

But I had gone along

To the place they’d prepared

That cloudy morning long

Everyone there was somber

At the special place

Where a bit of Earth was moved

And covered there that day

Men in suits arranged

The flowers there beside

With the family all waiting there

To say their sad goodbyes

I had some things to say

To the man that wasn’t there

But he was gone that day

Beyond the Earth prepared

My silence was temporary

As I whispered there some words

He was gone that day

But I felt that he had heard

My condolences on the loss of your loved one. Very well said WC. One of my Aunts just the other day passed away at 99 years old. And I', sure these same thoughts will be going through my mind.

Thanks AP. The inspiration for this poem was my grandfather who died at 95 years old.I miss him but know his spirit remains alive!
