i think that if you asked
my love
i would take my binder
off for you
being unbound and
entirely open in your presence
that sounds like heaven
if only to me
because you are the eye
of a hurricane
and i am caught
in an orbit around you
and it’s not so bad sometimes
because that turning
of the whole body is like
the butterflies you cause
and i could be a rosebush
if you asked me to be
grow you the loveliest flowers
even on the coldest winter days
and even if you never
picked any of my flowers
i would still leave them in a vase
to greet you in the morning
because i want
you to be happy
even if it is
not with me

That's what true love is. Wanting someone to be happy even at the cost of your displeasure. Well said.
Thank you for your kind words in regards to my poem. It always means a lot when people enjoy my work.
What an absolutely beautiful poem.... I adored this: and i could be a rosebush
if you asked me to be
Thank you for reading my work and leaving such a nice comment. I especially liked the imagery that that small stanza conjured for me, and am glad that you liked it as well.
i was really shocked by how vulnerable this is. it's really beautiful
When writing about this one person, my poems turn out being more vulnerable than I really intend them to be. I feel like I'm holding out a finger-painting or macaroni necklace to them, hoping that they'll like it. And thank you for calling my poem beautiful 😀
Beautiful imagery. There is a book by Clarice Lispector called Água Viva spilling over the go in with incredible imagery (just a reccommendation) and your poem reminds me of one of my favourite lines in there:
"I want a cloak woven from threads of solar gold... I open the black umbrella and throw myself into a feast of dancing where stars sparkle"
And reading your poems make me feel the same way as I felt reading these quotes. You have a natural gift for it.
