Memories of time gone by

Amandajane39

She sat there alone with tears in her eyes,
Remembering her childhood, how the time flies,
How all of the children would play on the green,
Those were the days, such a beautiful scene.

Imagine a time when you could come home at dark,
Stay round your friends after the park,
Not living in fear of who's lurking about,
And time to come in, out the window, they'd shout.

On days when my Grandchildren would visit me,
I'd get the old photos out and they'd sit on my knee,
But now that their older, they don't come every day,
To visit old Grandma, so I just sit and pray.

I know I've got someone to talk to me,
Even though I can't see him, I wish I could see,
I miss all the laughter, I wish I could share,
My pictures again, my home is so bare.

Maybe soon, I'll live in hope,
Until then, I'll watch my soaps.
I feel so tired, I close my eyes,
I dream of laughter, and beautiful skies.

I don't know where I am,
I suddenly see,
My Family and friends,
Are grieving over me.

I can't cry anymore, but I smile and I say,
You'll see me again, I promise one day,
I see the light shining, and I'm sure they see too,
As they all turn and wave, as I walk through.

Goodbye I love you, I'll never be far,
Look into the sky and search the shining star,
I'll be watching you always, and please do not cry,
As this is only a temporary goodbye.
