Retired

Retired

He retired from his job

And the busy freeway mob

And now really wanted to fish

With his son his greatest wish

He wanted to build project things

Including an oak front porch swing

And a table made of pine

Where he could eat and recline

He planned a garden good

Where cultivation was understood

With vegetables and water melons

And cantaloupes good for selling

He planned to go back to church

To learn more about rebirth

And to read the books of Paul

And know the reason for them all

He was a regular at the shop

Where he drank his coffee hot

And talked about the times gone past

And the plans that he had
