Goodbye

Karoline

She is drowning,

Yet strangely

No one notices her

Gasping for air,

As though every breath

Were her last.

She swallows

The lump in her throat,

Praying no one will ask her

Why she hasn't showered,

Or eaten,

Or slept

Or felt whole

Since her hands finally

Left his face

& fell, empty,

Into oblivion.

It is sad that great writes are too often born from heartache.
