I want to call
to see how you are doing
I have the number
I am just afraid
of what you might say
of what they might say
Hello, this is Nicki.
I know you do not know me
I know someone staying there.
I don’t know his last name.
I understand
I know I shouldn't be calling.
I understand the rules
I just miss him
I want to know if he is okay.
Yes sir, I can wait.
Thank you.
Hey, it’s me
Are you okay?
Do you remember that day?
Did you want to call?
Why did you want my number,
I almost lost my job because of you.
No, it’s okay it was worth it.
Yes, It was sad,
I cried everyday.
Yeah, but I just missed you.
They hated me because I thought about you,
I never got out of bed unless I had too.
I only wanted to be with you.
You were the only one who cared.
Did you even think about me?
It's been half a year,
and I think about you everyday.
Yes, I even look at the pictures I took of you.
Yeah, you looked really cute.
I miss you so much.
It hurts because I don’t think i’ll see you again.
I know you have to go.
Please don’t.
I miss you so much,
I want to see you.
Okay, can we talk soon?
I can fly out to see you.
I’ll come up with something.
Okay, i’m sorry,
But before you go.
I have a question.
Are you married?
Maybe, I shouldn’t call,
I’m not sure if I want to know
What the other end sounds like

- Comment from author about the poem: I met this guy six months ago and we only saw each other for two days. We had a really strong connection and it was amazing. The one problem was he was just starting a year long rehab program. When he asked for my number, he did not actually have a phone at the time. I could call the rehab and ask to talk to him, but I am not sure if I should. I am just hoping he is okay. I also kinda hope he is holding onto my number so when he gets out he will call. He is in Texas and i'm in California, so the odds of us running into each other when he gets out are very low. Anyways I hope you enjoy this "phone call" use your imagination to fill in the other end. Thank you for your time.
