Feathery Friend

Liam Lawless

On his desk was an old stuffed bird,

Once beautiful and full of life, now

Beautiful and full of fluff.

This particular bird was the talk of the town

Its feathers were an array

of every colour imaginable.

Before long all the town was filled with

Old stuffed birds, one on every desk,

And antlers on the wall. But the fields

Were ever so empty.

The skies lacked their colourful friends.

The man thought he could own nature

And in his vanity nature began to die.
