A Living Flame

poetboy123

Within

feel it bristling for it remains eternally warm

Feeding

upon its source, burning through every storm

Despite

every attempt to drown away its resilience

Free of spite

the living flame burns on with endless persistence

Waiting

to be discovered beneath the skin where it lies

Growing

restless in the shadows where it calls without cry

A need

straggling at the edge of every pondering mind

A destiny

clawing at all the eyes that unknowingly search but never find

Either

Abandoned

for the whims of greed, like a weed, growing from a rotting dream

Or

Achieved

through endless perspiration, eternal trial, burning fears away without a seam

Bursting

from the silent, but roaring, soul finally free to prey upon its fate

Forever rising

from slippery sorrow, a heart threatening to balance love and hate

A living flame

A chance to burn away today into tomorrow
