Ecclesiastes

JWKP98

Oh, how history does assert,

What once great nations were turned to ash and dirt

What men in formation did break like but twigs before the foe

Chopped down like wheat before the scythe row after row.

What great, beautiful cars lay forgotten in rust,

Once great walls and towers have returned to dust.

The great equalizer, all shall be made equal by the clock.

Man from the dust and the empires he built fell and buried with him in the rock.

Kings once great and slaves so mere both obscured by time and now in the same state,

History does justice to, remembers no one, no matter how big or small, we all share the same lonely, cold, erased fate.

This poem, this poet, and you the same;

Now loved and held dear, but in the end, not even drips in the greatest hurricane.
