Is It Me?!

Maxine Smith

Is it me that pushes away?

For all others choose not to stay

Maybe I’m an acquired taste

Is there a truth that I haven’t faced

Is it me holding on too tight?

Coming on too strong with the FIGHT

Perhaps my heart is worn on my sleeve

Or my nature, overbearing?!

Is it me just feeling some grey?

As times it’s me who runs away

Now I am standing in the SHADE

Later il let the LIGHT come stay

Is it me, the answer is YES!!

Thats a good thing as I’m fearless

Time to turn up that brighter SHADE

Open the future, come what may

  • Comment from author about the poem: I am as fierce as my mother (obviously us in the photo) A strong lady who always gives me strength when I need it. Is it me? Yes! Always be proud of who you are, all of your quirks and imperfections, own them all and be happy to be you!

Your mother has brought you up to look after your self in a great way. May your life be filled with love and wonder.
    Very good strong write.

Thank you so much Gold. My mother is my legend.

Hmm, no use staying in the background ALL the time, I suppose, or being TOO passive - as I can be! WE become 'Yes-men' or 'Yes-women', trying to please all the people all of the time.
We need a bit of 'oomph' or whatever we may call it. Sometimes I'm about a fierce as trying to fight my way out of a giant paper bag! lol.

      • Maxine Smith

Haha now that would be a funny picture to see.
Yes certainly some oomph is needed from
time to time, a bit of excitement can’t hurt anyone.

You found the lesson! Standing on one's own feet is sometimes scary and sometimes even lonely but pays off in the end!

        • Maxine Smith

Exactly Lorna. Thanks so much for stopping by.

Wow a lovely self , kinda like a worded selfie mod poem, written in an interesting appealing confident way , appreciating mother, great ! Yes we should be happy with whatever we are and if that pushes people away then it's their loss. Kudos for the flow and rhyming.

Is it me that read this poem?
Drifting from reality without even knowing.

Is it me that read it over?
Not for proof but to draw closer.

Is it me now feeling abandoned?
Soley because this had to come to an end.

But is it me hopeful and anxious?
Yes, because I know I'll love the one that comes next.

                          😊
