The Present Looms

Kurt Philip Behm

Time is speeding out of control

 as life is slowing down

The minutes of my memory

 lost hours going round

My eyelids close, the past on fire

 last vestige still to find

One image flashes bright and clear

 all darkness cast behind

The calendar in ruins

 this moment left in charge

The future marching backwards

 —the present looming large

    Kurt,

A super write that made me think about many things from my past, my present, and what is to be for me! There is “One imagine” that “flashes bright and clear” that I look forward to!

Your finishing stanzas never fail to impress. Your writing style is concrete and it's a refreshing thing to see every time I read your work. I don't know if I've mentioned this before, but I'm also from North Carolina. Small world.
