Man's Best Friend

Looking out the window, at how beautiful the weather was and at all of the loving couples holding hands or kissing, thoughts of the woman who he wants to be with crossed his mind as did the memories of making her giggle, laugh, smile, and moan.

He sighs as a voice whispered poison into his mind that he was never good enough for her to begin with, that he's just a fuck-up and no woman will ever want anything to do with him.

He picked up the knife off his desk and thought about going somewhere dark and quiet like a dog close to death, thought about pushing the blade deeply inside his heart and twisting it as it was his heart that was the number one cause to all the heartache, from falling too fast and too hard.

But as he felt his dog put her head on his lap, he immediately dropped the knife back on the desk and hugged his dog, crying silently and whispered, "Good girl. Thank you for stopping me." and in response, the dog happily licked his face and barked.
