I wish that I could only know
the place where lost affections go,
where tiny wants and petty joys,
like favoured foods and childhood toys,
and greater loves and deeper passions
stack and lie like dated fashions,
where I would go at any cost
to relive joys that now seem lost.
I'd revel in the gentle care
of long remembered cuddles there
and finding warmth and sweet caress
I'd never leave the joy, unless
discovered in accreted dust
the secret thrills of love & lust;
inviting me to rendevouz
with one as wonderful as you.
and when I find that place, I'll turn
to love so warm, so strong, so firm.
I'll sink into that velvet bliss
of love's desired, empassioned kiss,
and when I find nostalgia's charms
relaxed in warm and caring arms,
I know that I'll be happy there
with friends like you who know I care.

- Comment from author about the poem: As I mature I try not to indulge in regrets, but I do find that the "what ifs" begin to rise in my mind.
