Why does she stare? Doesn’t she know that’s rude?!
I try not care, watching her eyes intrude
It’s unfair, my feelings she must exclude
As she still glares, I’ve now become
subdued
Is it my nose? Or My clothes? Why she chose to impose. I hope she goes, the door behind to close, so I can begin to compose and unfreeze what she froze.
Oh my, how she radiates elegance
Breathe out a sigh, in envy as I glance
I wish that I, would be given a chance
To catch the eye, of my future romance
It’s her presence, exuding confidence, it compliments her dominance, I want her influence, her guidance, have her as my alliance.
Did her Mum forget to teach her manners
Presented with no guidelines or standards
I want my own space, that’s all that matters
But if she don’t stop, il go get answers
Time to go and leave this dinner for one
I look back at her, fight the urge to run
I want a date like hers, where I’m the sun
To see me like her, to see me undone
We don’t ever really know what people are thinking
We draw conclusions without really seeing
We jump to fast and subject our feelings
Maybe we should take a step back and enjoy our being!

- Comment from author about the poem: I’ve been both of these people, at many different times. Then I sit and think and wonder, we don’t truly know what people think, it could all be nothing, or innocent or even admiration. Sometimes we jump immediately to the defensive, when all along it could be nothing at all.

Thanks MAX ~ for a very introspective POEM ! Sometimes I get stared at ~ especially if I'm dressed unconventionally ! If I'm giving a TALK on Jefferson ~ Dickens or Johnny Cash (Man in Black) and I travel to the venue in Costume ! And of course (like you !) sometimes I cant help staring @ Men & Ladies and couples ~ OK I know it's rude but some people mesmerise me ! Thanks for sharing ! Please check my Poem "In the Garden" dedicated to the lovely CHRISTINA S ! Love as always BRIAN ! Can't stop staring at your elegant PHOTO !
Thank you so much Brain. People stare without even realising sometimes. This is a reflection on both myself mindlessly staring and getting overwhelmed when I believe others stare at me.
It’s the nature of life ... it doesn’t have to be negative .. we don’t know what others are thinking, so just focus on ourselves and live in our moments.
I know some people think they can read our minds. but we are individuals. they should not guess what the other person thinks. if I say to you theres a house on a hill. we would not see the same house.
Exactly Pauly. Thanks for stopping by 😀
I love your insight and how you try to understand the minds of others
Yours is a true talent!!
Thank you Luke, the compliment is heart felt.
Trying to understand the mind and others, intrigues me, I’m pleasued you noticed and appreciated.
Some people are just "people watchers" and i don't think mean to be rude. Maybe she was admiring something of yours. It's easy as humans to jump to conclusions but just enjoy yourself! Great write!
Exactly Hun, I’ve been on both sides of the table. When you reflect you come to the realisation that you should never worry.
We can never understand fully what others are thinking. So just sit back and enjoy your life.
Thanks Christina
No problem!
Like this one a lot Max. We often jump to conclusions when we really have no idea what someone else may be thinking. X
She could be gazing right through you, her mind 100 miles away on who knows what. Great write Maxine.
Thank you so much.
Very good write, people watching is a natural development in life, it could be many things but most do not mean disrespect. Many of my poems come about via people watching, but it is only glimpses not staring.
Thank you Gold.
Very good poem. It’s true we do make our own conclusions but sometimes is good to take a step back and realise what they may actually think 😘
Cheers Stevie ☺️☺️
Wow I love this all the pic an poem I can relate to!!! My mom always said to me as I would say "why are they staring at me" she said "don't look at them" lol I'd just sit quietly thinking I want to poke their eyes out lol but lovely Maxine xx
lol thank you hunny.
That is our human tragedy, always thinking the worse outcome. I really liked this introspective process, we don’t always have the right perspective though.
Thank you for your appreciative words Milly.
