Headstone Of Sorrow

Kurt Philip Behm

Did you wear your life out;

did you use it all up

—what are you saving it for

We’re all running headlong

toward a hole in the ground

—that the past and future insure

Are you stuck on tomorrow

 lost in wishes of things

—hoping there’s still more to come

Will your headstone bring sorrow

 to those mourning your loss

 —inscribing what never got done

In Death Renewed

Old by the numbers

 refusing to give in

dying younger than the years prescribed

All feigned adulthood

 to others entrusted

 refusing life’s final goodbye

The music now was the music then

with one great love to see

 me through

My body to the soil

 my mind in defiance

  —my soul in death renewed

I don't want to be buried
    i'll accept creamation.
    then my brother tells me,
it will cost about 4000 dollars.
and he's the one taking care of my money.!!!

    the bones picked clean.
    the clean bones gone.
    we shall have stars
    at elbow and foot.
