Mountain’s Call

Caroline Elizabeth

Amidst the trees
stretching their young, age old
arms to the slowly clearing sky,
I see great muraled walls
scarred from raging red and orange.

They smoke like the widow
on her anniversary.
But never have I seen
walls so tempting to scale
or murals so carefully detailed.

And while a tune plays in my ear,
“I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For”,
the mural cries out to me,
begging for my existence in her veins
and asking for my secrets.

So I will answer the mountain’s call
and search for my destiny
in their quiet solitude.

I love the amount of imagery and personification you put into this piece! It's carefully and thoughtfully written with wonderful usage of figurative language.
