Sleepless Nights

JackCoria

Is this right? It can't be. I think these sleepless nights are getting to me. Time and time again I try, but this loss of sleep twists and tosses my mind. Hello? Can you hear me? This isn't how i pictured my life to be. I'm in a good place, but it's come at a cost, and now in the darkness my mind is lost. Turn off the lights as i desecrate my mind, you all know where I'm coming from, sleepless nights are one of a kind. Birds of a feather might stick together, but in these sleepless nights i find the silence to be better than the noises of the world, to whom i write this letter, so wake up and see like me in a sleepless endeavor
These are the ramblings of a mad man, someone too far gone to comprehend, so if you see like me than you might be someone I'd call friend. If not, that's fine, i promise in time you'll one day come to know of the sleepless nights I find myself in, of which I've come to call my home

  • Comment from author about the poem: This is one of the first poems I wrote after coming out of a very difficult time of my life. I wasn't getting much sleep, and from those sleepless nights, and the thoughts that stuck, this poem came to fruition.

You describe the experience very well of the nights when sleep seems to evade every effort - - I look forward to reading more of your work and welcome to this friendly poetry site Jack.

It does seem like difficult times tend to give inspiration for good work. I agree that most of us have had a bout of sleepless nights. It wears on you, body and soul. I think you expressed the results perfectly.
