Dreams and Reality

WhiteWolf23

In your dreams you can fly, you can soar,

You can swim, dance and walk through doors

You can talk to animals, plants and bugs,

You can give and receive proper bear hugs.

You can do things you've always wanted,

You can make up words like pokajaunted.

You can rule a kingdom, build an army

You can be cool, collected or completely barmy.

You can give or take anything, bug or small,

You can be short or you can be tall.

You can be yourself or someone better,

You can be dry, or get wetter and wetter.

You can be friends, with all or none,

You can be light as a feather, or weigh a tonne.

Your life can be perfect, no faults or wrongs,

You can listen to all of your favourite songs.

Then you wake up from that magical scene,

And you wish you could go back to where you've just been.

Because reality hits hard and fast,

Reminding you of the present, maybe the past.

You wake up to a morning that is cold and grey,

It's going to be a long and hard day.

But you remember your dreams and you smile,

The nights comforts make the days worthwhile.

And although you may never live those dreams,

Your life may be sweeter than it seems.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I was going through some of my old revision from when I was in school and I came across a bunch of poems. So against my better judgement, I'm going to publish them all. I'm not editing them in any way, I'm putting them up as they are.
