The Dreamer - Part 2

sylviasearcher

Shhh,

Gently, as you wake the dreamer

Tread softly, please take care.

They saw her in the garden,

You sensed her forest far from there.

Look!

Her eyes are open

To dense sky reaching greens and foliage floor!

You watch her as she dances

You reach and hope for more...

Listen!

She is singing.

To dulcid morning melody, you are stirred

She was never singing to herself,

She was waiting to be heard.

Watch!

There is a commotion now!

A hungry claw tearing at the birds,

Terror, anger, falling world.

You leap, in hope to catch that girl.

Shhh!

No need to mourn the dreamer.

Her warm blood and awakened heart.

She remembers as you catch her,

Nevermore! In this world she has no part.

  • Comment from author about the poem: There are do many excellent romantic poems out there I so wanted to be able to believe so I tried to shift my last poem to a more hopeful perspective. I don't think it flows as well... Maybe I'm a non-believer?

Otherworldly... That's a good way to describe the dreamer! 😊

Part two is better... in all respects....

      • sylviasearcher

I thought it did not flow so well.

I was trying for a more insightful observation of the same scene.

One is more hopeful than the other

I guess she just needs a little birdhouse in someone's soul

          now wouldn't that be delightful

          I built a little house
          My dove
          Atop a cherry tree
I built it out of solid oak
          and nails
          Just for you and me…
