You Killed The Old Me

izithemermaid

You see me for what I've done,

Not for who I've become

they don't see me for me

They won't leave me be

And they don't know what is to come

They don't know I'll be gone

And it won't be very long

Until I turn out the lights

And tell them goodnight

And then I won't see the sun

You all will be to blame

You'll never be the same

Knowing you killed someone

Knowing you held the gun

Knowing you were the uncontrollable flame

Then you'll finally get it

And maybe stop being so selfish

You'll understand

You weren't the only man

That made me want to quit

But you still did this to them

My family, my friends, and my man

You made them sad

You made them mad

Knowing you killed their gem

Then maybe you'll finally stop

And quit thinking you're on top

And then you'll see

I was a great being

And you just made me drop.

I feel like people do change, sometimes drastically, after a major event in their lives. Especially a tragic one. Something that hurts them so deeply that it kills part of them inside. But i also believe that if they are able to let themselves love again they grow back stronger and maybe a little wiser. They'll be "a great being". Thank you for sharing this post with us.
